Ayush Homam

The term 'Ayush' is derived from the Sanskrit term 'Ayushya,' which implies lifespan. Ayush Homa and Puja is done to please the Ayur Devta (God of life) so that He blesses the Sadhak with good health and long life. According to the Bodhayana Sutras, if a child falls ill more often, then it is considered good to perform this Homa and Puja on a regular basis until the child is in better health. It is also believed that performing or conducting an Ayush Homa and Puja on the first birthday, according to the Janma Nakshatra (birth star), of the baby Lord Ayur eradicates all evil forces from the baby's journey ahead in life and bestows it with long life and good health.
